Muslim Civic engagement and social impact

Muslims around the world are leading powerful social movements from community organizing in the United States, to full scale democratic transitions as just took place in Malaysia.

This research will take an in depth look at how Muslims are impacting political life around the world. With this we will produce the first major in depth report looking at community organizing infrastructure in American Muslim communities and the mass voter engagement campaign taking place in the 2018 US congressional election where more than 90 Muslim candidates are running for office.

This research area will look at how Muslim communities around the world are responding to the core issues facing humanity over the next 50 years. Ranging from civic engagement to the implementation of green technologies and green cities, to impact investing, sustainable agriculture practices, and halal/ tayab animal husbandry.

  • Impact Investing and Community Strategic Planning - Consulting for building community foundations by cities and Muslim philanthropy / giving services. Consulting for foundations who want to make impacts in Muslim communities.

  • Global Muslim philanthropy - Muslims around the world make up one of the largest philanthropic groups from around the world yet these numbers have never been fully quantified. One example of this is that the month of Ramadan is likely the largest month of giving in the world. With this diverse set of research we will look at the places Muslims are giving to both within religious required giving (Zakat) and philanthropy that goes beyond the required amount of giving that Muslims around the world pay annually.
